NEXT Student Competition

The NEXT student competition involved designing a collaborative and inclusive office space for an ad agency office in downtown Chicago. The space integrates natural light, plants and earthy elements to connect people with nature, foster creativity and well-being. Featuring an open, flexible layout with state-of-the-art facilities, collaborative workstations, huddle rooms, private offices and an indoor garden- the design empowers employees to personalize their environment, reflecting NEXT’s value of community and innovation.

This reception space is a stunning blend of natural elements and modern design. The moss wall serves as the main focal point, bringing a vibrant touch of nature indoors, creating a calming atmosphere. The use of natural wood throughout the space adds warmth and texture, perfectly complementing the custom reception desk, welcoming visitors with its unique design.

This monumental staircase is a striking architectural feature that leads elegantly to the 7th floor. The sleek steel stairs complement the modern industrial style. Above the staircase, a beautiful pendant light adorned with birds on branches adds an artistic touch, making the ascent not just functional but also visually captivating.

This innovative work cafe was designed to inspire creativity and collaboration. The striking blue cabinets evoke the tranquility of nature, creating a refreshing atmosphere for all who enter. With ample seating options, this space fosters teamwork and encourages engaging discussions, making it the ideal spot for employees to connect and share ideas.

The indoor garden inside the work cafe adds a vibrant touch to the space, creating a serene oasis for visitors. A large skylight above the garden floods the area with natural light, promoting plant growth and enhancing the overall ambiance. The harmonious blend of greenery and sunlight not on beautifies the cafe but also contributes to a refreshing and rejuvenating environment for everyone to enjoy.

One of the standout workspaces in the NEXT office building is designed with user-centric features that enhance personalization and creativity. Each user has dedicated storage solutions, allowing employees to keep their spaces organized and reflect their own personal style. The abundant windows flood the area with natural light, creating an inviting atmosphere that boosts productivity.

This private office showcases an industrial design that combines raw elements with a touch of warmth. The use of warm wood tones throughout the space brings in a natural feel, creating a comfortable yet professional environment. The focal point of this office is the striking moss wall, which not only adds a vibrant touch but also enhances the overall aesthetic.

This office features a simple classic design that beautifully complements the industrial aesthetic. Inspired by the Frank Lloyds Wright Steelcase desk, the sleek black design enhances the overall look and blends seamlessly with the exposed brick walls. Although the desk offers limited storage, an additional credenza has been strategically places to provide ample storage.

This design is centered around collaboration, making it an ideal space for teamwork. With whiteboard along the back wall and a TV on another, its perfect for brainstorming sessions and presentations. The extra seating accommodates anyone joining in on the collaboration fostering a sense of community.
